Job Description

Steel Fitter/Welder - $16.29/HourThe Russellville Penmac Branch is hiring Steel Fitters/Welders for a local manufacturing company. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity for candidates with experience in metal fabrication, fitting, and welding. If you enjoy working with structural steel, reading blueprints, and producing quality craftsmanship, this could be an excellent long-term opportunity.Requirements for the Steel Fitter/Welder

Experience with steel fitting and welding processes required
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
Strong measuring and layout skills
Ability to safely operate hand tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment
Experience working with large structural steel components preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be willing to submit to a drug screen
Ability to lift, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods throughout the shift

Steel Fitter/Welder Responsibilities

Lift and move materials and finished products using large cranes and material-handling equipment
Align and fit steel components according to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers
Hammer, chip, grind, cut, bend, and straighten metal as required
Lay out and inspect metal stock and workpieces to ensure all specifications are met
Locate and mark bending and cutting lines while accounting for stock thickness, welding shrinkage, and project requirements
Mark reference points and transfer measurements using squares, measuring devices, chalk, and soapstone
Read blueprints and verify dimensions before and during fabrication
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
Follow all company safety policies and quality standards

Pay and Schedule

Pay: $16.29 per hour
Full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity
Training on day shift for several months
Transition to 3rd Shift after training
3rd Shift Hours: 4:30 PM to 2:30 AM
Overtime may be required based on production demands
